That's not saliva. That's condensation - the air you blow though the horn is warmer than the inside of the instrument.

I play French Horn and have no issue with the amount of spit that I create. Ever seen a trombone player empty their spit valve? Bleach! Last year my French Horn didn't have a spit valve, so I had to remove a bunch of things to dump it out. kthxbye

I play French Horn and like ldrg said it's water. The joke in our section is that there is a filter in the tubing.

A lot of the horns (double horns to be exact) that I've seen have a third trigger valve that literally can't be removed due to the bell, spit and condensation build up and it's a pain to get out.
